Public Hearing on Future County Park in Manchester
Public Hearing Notice:
TAKE NOTICE that the County of Ocean has filed a request with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Transactions and Public Land Administration, proposing to transfer ownership of parkland from the Township of Manchester to the County of Ocean and to change the purpose and use of 33 acres of the Future County Park from conservation to active & passive recreation. The parkland to be transferred and developed consists of ~260 +/- acres and is subject to Green Acres restrictions.
The parkland to be transferred is known as Future County Park, located at 3623 Ridgeway Rd. Manchester, NJ 08759, designated as Block(s)/Lot(s) 71/ 1.01, 6.01; 71.02/159.02; 72/4. The Green Acres restrictions on the parkland will be transferred with the parkland and will run with the property in perpetuity.
Proposed amenities included in the change in use comprise of: athletic fields and courts, picnic pavilions, spray park, playgrounds, hiking trails, comfort station, maintenance yard and associated parking.
Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:36-25.5(a)3 and N.J.A.C. 7:36-25.6(a)1, a hearing to obtain public comment on this request of transfer as well as change in use will be held at: The Ocean County Library (Manchester Branch), 21 Colonial Drive, Manchester Township, 08759, on Thursday September 8, 2022 at 7:00pm.

Public comment on this parkland transfer and proposed change in purpose or use request will be accepted during the public hearing or until the end of the public comment period on Thursday, September 22, 2022. On or after Friday, September 23rd, the County of Ocean may take formal action to approve the proposed transfer of parkland, subject to approval of the transfer documents by the Office of Transactions and Public Land Administration. On or after December 7th, 2022, the County of Ocean may take formal action to approve the proposed change in purpose.
