Winter Storm Fern has prompted officials to provide a list of resources for residents in affected areas. In case of emergencies, people are advised to call 911.

Residents experiencing power outages can report them to JCP&L by texting “OUT” to 544487 or calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877). Warming centers have been set up in both Ocean County and Monmouth County for those needing shelter from the cold.

The State of New Jersey offers a 24-hour helpline at 211 and provides preparedness information on its website at ready.nj.gov. The National Weather Service is providing updates for Central and Southern New Jersey. Officials also recommend keeping cell phones fully charged during the emergency.

Chris Smith is currently serving in the U.S. Congress, representing New Jersey’s 4th district. He replaced previous U.S Congress member Frank Thompson in 1981. Smith graduated from The College of New Jersey in 1975 with a BS degree and currently lives in Manchester Township.

More weather updates can be found at the National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mt Holly site.
