Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey expressed his views following President Donald Trump's inaugural address. Smith stated, "President Trump declared that today begins a new golden age for America and the people of the United States."

Smith praised Trump for his efforts against the policies of the previous administration, saying, "We welcome him back and thank President Trump for working to defeat the radical and destructive policies of the Biden-Harris Administration."

He highlighted Trump's plans involving executive orders aimed at restoring American leadership globally and ensuring prosperity and security domestically. According to Smith, "Already, President Trump has declared an emergency at the Southern border enabling the completion of the border wall and ensuring the reimplementation of the Remain-in-Mexico policy." He added that drug cartels would be designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations to combat illegal immigration and trafficking issues.

The congressman also mentioned Trump's commitment to energy independence and rejection of certain educational policies. Smith remarked, "President Trump will also bring back American energy independence and reject and replace discriminatory policies like critical race theory in our schools."

Smith emphasized collaboration with Trump on legislative priorities, including reducing regulatory measures. He said he looks forward to working with Trump "on prioritizing legislation to reign in a bloated regulatory state and unleash the American economy."

In conclusion, Smith noted Trump's intention to listen to Americans' concerns from day one: "Starting today, Americans will once again be heard by the White House."
