The Ocean County Sheriff's Office, Office of Emergency Management, is inviting public participation in a workshop on the Hazard Mitigation Plan. This third public workshop aims to enhance understanding of hazard mitigation grant opportunities.
Scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, October 28, the 90-minute session will be held both in-person at the Ocean County Office of Emergency Management and virtually. Those interested in attending online can register via the Ocean County website by navigating to the All-Hazard Mitigation Plan tab.
Workshop discussions will cover several topics including Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Grant Programs, New Jersey Office of Emergency Management grant assistance, mitigation partnerships, and plan integration opportunities.
Deputy Director Gary Quinn from the Ocean County Board of Commissioners emphasized the importance of public engagement: "The Hazard Mitigation Plan team is engaging with the public through this workshop to better understand hazard mitigation grant opportunities." He noted that updating the plan every five years is necessary for communities to qualify for state and federal disaster relief funds after a disaster.
Barbara Jo Crea, Director of the Ocean County Board of Commissioners, encouraged citizen involvement: "Whether you attend in person or join the discussion virtually, it's important we hear from you."
For inquiries about the plan or workshop details, Brittany Dremluk from Michael Baker International and Allen J. Mantz Jr., Acting Domestic Preparedness Planner at Ocean County Sheriff's Office are available for contact via email or phone.
Further information about hazard mitigation planning can be accessed on the Ocean County Hazard Mitigation Planning webpage.
