The weather is getting colder and heaters are being turned up. In order to prevent exposure to carbon monoxide, remember to make sure your furnace is in good working order and serviced regularly.Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless and poisonous gas produced by the incomplete burning of fuel. CO exposure is often the result of improper ventilation or inhalation of exhaust fumes from cars and trucks, or from generators or gas heaters. Also, check to make sure your CO detectors are in working order.At low concentrations, fatigue in healthy people and chest pain in people with heart disease. At higher concentrations, impaired vision and coordination; headaches; dizziness; confusion; nausea. Can cause flu-like symptoms that clear up after leaving home. Fatal at very high concentrations.
