COOKING OUT FOR A GOOD CAUSE! THE OCHD PARTICPATES IN THE HOPE SHEDS LIGHT "RECOVERY SPEAKS" FAMILY BARBECUE!
Ocean County Health Department’s community partner HOPE Sheds Light hosted a Family BBQ on June 18th, in Toms River. HOPE Sheds Light provides education, resources, and support to individuals, families and the community about the impact of addiction.
The OCHD ELIXIR and ARCH staff were on hand for the event - utilizing our brand new, state-of-the-art mobile unit. OCHD team members provided attendees Narcan training and distribution and rapid HIV & Hepatitis C testing on site. Additionally, guests had the opportunity to ask questions and learn so much more about many of the services provided by the Ocean County Health Department.
The Family BBQ had a great turnout that focused on celebrating hope for individuals and families impacted by substance abuse with games, giveaways, & community food vendors.
In addition to offering our services, the program became a great opportunity to network with other providers involved in addiction treatment and prevention. Many valuable relationships were made and vital information was shared.
Additionally, we soon anticipate offering additional services - including a new partner for outreach to the Ocean County homeless population.
“Ocean County Health Department Clinic Services is committed to high quality compassionate care that focuses on inclusivity, respect and the promotion of empowered self-care. We strive to improve the health of the diverse communities we serve by providing client centered education, harm reduction and comprehensive clinical case management, social services and evidence based public health interventions.”
