Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), who serves as Co-Chair of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism and authored the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Act of 2021, released a statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day.

“Today, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, we honor the lives and legacies of the more than six million Jews who died at the cruel hands of the Nazis, and we recommit ourselves to combating and calling out antisemitism whenever it rears its ugly head.

“As acts of antisemitic violence continue to rise throughout the globe—including the recent horrific terror attack targeting Jewish families during a Hannukah celebration in Bondi Beach, Australia—we must stand firmly with our Jewish brothers and sisters and strongly condemn these hateful atrocities through both word and action.

“The United States will never tolerate, excuse, or accept antisemitism within its borders—and anywhere else in the world—and we will remain steadfast in our mission to eradicate this spiritual cancer that metastasizes around the globe.”

Chris Smith has represented New Jersey’s 4th district in Congress since 1981, succeeding Frank Thompson. He was born in Rahway, New Jersey in 1953 and currently resides in Manchester Township. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science degree from The College of New Jersey in 1975.
